Northern Lights Safari on ATV
Experience the ultimate Aurora hunt under the Icelandic night sky.
Join us for a unique “once-in-a-lifetime” adventure as we head into the darkness in search of the dancing Northern Lights. This 2.5-hour experience (including 90 minutes of pure ATV riding) takes you away from the city lights of Reykjavík to the serene shores of Lake Hafravatn and the summit of Mount Hafrafell.
The Magic of the Aurora
The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are a natural wonder caused by solar particles colliding with Earth’s magnetic field. This interaction creates the stunning curtains of green, purple, and red that dance across the sky. While they are visible from September to April, statistically, March and October are often the best months for sightings due to the equinoxes, which frequently bring higher geomagnetic activity.
From the top of the mountain, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the glowing city lights of Reykjavík and Mosfellsbær—the perfect backdrop for the stars. Even if the lights are shy, navigating the rugged trails by the glow of your headlights is a thrill in itself.
